Soon afterwards he went on through cities and villages, proclaiming and bringing the good news of the kingdom of God. The twelve were with him, as well as some women who had been cured of evil spirits and infirmities: Mary, called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out, and Joanna, the wife of Herod’s steward Chuza, and Susanna, and many others, who provided for them out of their resources.
Today is Friday the 20 September in the 24th week of Ordinary Time.
The community of Taizé sing Gott ist nur Liebe. ‘God is nothing but love.Dare to give all for love.Give yourselves without fear.’
Today’s reading is from the Gospel of Luke.
We hear a lot in the gospels about what Jesus does for people: preaching, curing, driving out demons. In today’s gospel, we hear about people providing for Jesus, and giving out of their own resources. What do you have to give?
And how do you feel about offering something to Jesus –shy? Confident?
As you hear the passage again, notice that these women are giving out of gratitude, because of what Jesus has done for them.
Talk to the Lord about what he has done for you – and perhaps about what you want to offer him.
