Monday 13 July

Today is Monday 13 July in the 15th week of Ordinary Time.

Madison Cunningham, with the Porter’s Gate sings, ‘Little Things with Great Love’.

Today’s reading is from the Gospel of Matthew.

Matthew 10.40-42

‘Whoever welcomes you welcomes me, and whoever welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me. Whoever welcomes a prophet in the name of a prophet will receive a prophet’s reward; and whoever welcomes a righteous person in the name of a righteous person will receive the reward of the righteous; and whoever gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones in the name of a disciple—truly I tell you, none of these will lose their reward.’

Like ripples in a pool, love and service flow from God the Father through Jesus the Son, through you - out to all you encounter. So that whoever welcomes you welcomes Jesus, and meets with God. Spend a moment reflecting on where you feel welcomed…

Any simple act of kindness you do as a follower of Jesus, you do for Jesus himself. Who is Jesus asking you to welcome, or show a simple act of kindness to today?

As you listen again, ponder in what ways Jesus might be calling you to be welcoming at this challenging time.

In these remaining moments ask the Holy Spirit to bring someone to mind, whom you can serve.
