Today is Wednesday 11 March in the second week of Lent.
Maximillian sings, ‘Learning to love like You’. As you listen, spend a moment reflecting on the ways you would like to become more like Jesus.
Today’s reading is from the Gospel of Matthew.
In today’s passage we hear Jesus challenging our worldly values. A mother asks for privileges and status for her sons. Notice how Jesus doesn’t reprimand the sons for wanting power, instead he challenges them to stay with him on the journey ahead, wherever it leads. What does it mean for you to be on the journey with Jesus? What are the challenges for you in being a disciple?
Jesus teaches his disciples to copy his example of servanthood: pouring himself out in order to empower many – especially the lowest and the least.
In what ways are you imitating the example of Jesus?
Where do you struggle with this?
As you listen again imagine Jesus beside you encouraging you to walk with him; empowering you to love and serve others.
As Jesus asked the disciples’ mother, so Jesus asks you: ‘What do you want?’ Whisper the desires of your heart to him now.
