Thursday 14 November

Today is Thursday the 14 November, in the Thirty Second Week of Ordinary Time.

The community of Taizé sing, Jésus le Christ:  ‘Jesus Christ, inner light, do not let my darkness speak to me.  Jesus Christ, inner light, let me welcome your love.’

Today’s reading is from the Book of Wisdom.

The writer of the Book of Wisdom says they were ‘taught by wisdom.’ In many respects this could be seen as a way of saying that they were enlightened – or guided – by the Holy Spirit. Are there times when, guided by the Spirit, you have been at odds with those around you?

The passage reminds us that the search for God ends in the most wonderful experience a human being can have. What have been the times you have experienced the wonder of searching for God?

As you listen to the reading again, allow yourself to be guided by the Spirit.  Listen to what the Spirit is trying to bring to your attention.

Listening to the Spirit is extremely difficult, not because the Spirit fails to make their self felt but because we, as human beings, are very good at being distracted by other things. Spend the last few minutes of this meditation trying to still yourself and opening yourself fully to the Spirit.
