The Feast of the Sacred Heart | Friday 28 June

Today is Friday the 28 June, the Feast of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus.

Salt of the Sound sings, ‘It is Well with my Soul.’

Today's reading is from St Paul's Letter to the Romans

‘God’s love has been poured into our hearts’ – has there been a time recently when you have been particularly aware of God’s loving presence? If so then revisit it now and enjoy remembering the experience. If not, then pray that God will bless you in this way.

‘God proves his love for us in that while we were still sinners Christ died for us’ – God’s love is immense! It is forgiving! It is wonderful! But often, the thing that prevents us from receiving God’s Love is not that it isn’t there, but that we won’t receive it. Do you ever struggle to receive God’s love?

As you listen to the reading again, hear this startling teaching: ‘Christ died for us while we were yet sinners’...

Jesus died not because of what we can become but for us as we are now. God’s Divine Compassion is such that he sends his Son to die for us in our imperfection.

‘We even boast in God’ – does your faith fill us with joy? Talk to the Lord now about what your faith means to you…
