Today is Holy Thursday, the 17th of April.

The Community of Taizé sing: ‘Stay with me; remain here with me. Watch and pray.’ Whatever promptings I might feel right now to move, to get on with the day, to move on to the next thing, can I settle myself for these few minutes of prayer now, and be content just to remain here with the Lord?

Today’s reading is from the Gospel of John.

Can I allow him to wash my feet?  Can I let Him love me?

Now we enter into the most sacred time of all – the Triduum or three days. Our prayer is just to be as close to Jesus in these days as we can.

Imagine the scene. Look carefully and spend time on each of the actions that Jesus performs.

Spend time in experiencing his generosity, freedom and humility. He doesn’t ask for anything in return.

As you hear the reading a second time, take time – no need to rush. This is a prayer that might stay with you the whole day.

When you feel ready, let Him show you whose feet you might wash and in what way.
