Welcome to the Saturday Examen.
In these weeks after Easter the Church focuses on the joy that its message hopes to bring to people. You might then like to start this time of prayer by recalling a single joyful moment, big or small, from the last week.
Now ask God for the gift of recognising other moments from the last few days that you have reason to be grateful for.
Once you’ve asked for this gift, let the week as a whole pass before your mind’s eye. See what you notice, without having to try too hard to recall everything that has happened.
Each of these moments to be grateful for is a gift from God. Notice, and speak with God, about how you’ve reacted to the gifts that he has given you this week.
Often God’s gifts are given to enable us to serve God, God’s people, and the whole of God’s creation, more fully and faithfully. What kind of gifts do you need from God to be able to do this in the week ahead? End this time of prayer by asking for those gifts now.
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
