Today is Sunday the 17th of March, the fifth Sunday of Lent.
The Community of Taizé sings Kristus, din Ande: “Jesus, your Spirit in us is a wellspring of everlasting life.”
Kristus, din Ande i oss är en källa med porlande vatten
Today’s reading is from St Paul’s letter to the Romans.
Romans 8:8-11
And those who are in the flesh cannot please God.
But you are not in the flesh; you are in the Spirit, since the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him. But if Christ is in you, though the body is dead because of sin, the Spirit is life because of righteousness. If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will give life to your mortal bodies also through his Spirit that dwells in you.
St Paul writes that the Spirit of God lives in the disciples of Jesus Christ.
How do you know that you belong to Christ?
How can you be sure that the Spirit of God lives in you? You might like to ask God to show you the ways in which God is dwelling in you.
Ask Jesus to show you the ways that the Spirit is leading you into new life.
Thank Jesus for this new life he is encouraging.
Share with Jesus any concerns you have about living a Spirit-filled life.
As you listen again, allow God’s Spirit to guide your thinking.
Notice which thoughts are brought to the surface.
Thank the Spirit for bringing these thoughts into the light.
In the closing stillness, ask to be filled afresh with God’s Spirit. Resolve to look for and celebrate the signs of God’s new life both in you and in all you encounter.
You have given all to me
To you, Lord, I return it
Everything is Yours, do with it what you will
Give me only your love and Your grace
That is enough for me
Amen.
