Welcome to the Saturday Examen. This is a time to reflect back over my week.
I take a moment to settle myself into prayer… I become aware of my physical posture in this moment… what does it say about how I am today?
I become aware of my “spiritual” posture…how do I imagine myself before God in this moment? All I do is notice this with a kind curiosity…
I let my mind sweep over the past week… Which events stand out to me?
If I’ve prayed with the readings this week, I’ve celebrated the Baptism of Jesus, walked with Hannah and Samuel, and watched Jesus heal and forgive.
Which of these prayer times has impacted me most deeply?
Why is this? What did I experience?
Where have I felt resistant to God, uneasy or challenged during this week?
Why might this be?
What has delighted or surprised me?
I give thanks for these times.
Which word, phrase, image or story has stayed with me?
How will ensure that I hold onto this?
What is Jesus calling me to do next?
I listen to anything that the Spirit is stirring within me and note it down.
As I prepare for a new week, I ask the Spirit to lead me deeper into the truth of Jesus Christ. I ask that I may experience more of God’s grace as I journey on.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
