Welcome to the Saturday Examen.
Saints Martha, Mary and Lazarus, whose feast we celebrate today, were bound together by their friendship with Jesus. On their feast let’s take a moment to recognise that through our prayer we too are bound together in fellowship, wherever we are on the face of the earth…
As you look back over the past week, take stock of the dreams you dreamed and desires you desired… those that were fulfilled in some way or other…and those that went unfulfilled…
Now turn to Jesus and ask him to show you the dreams and desires of his heart. What are the things that he dreamed of for you?
As you put your dreams and desires alongside the dreams and desires of Jesus, what change do you notice? Do you begin to dream a different dream, or desire a different desire?
As we close our prayer, unite your dreams and desires with all those who are bound together by their friendship with Jesus at this moment. Take a moment to speak to God about how you can help him fulfil the dreams and desires he has for you, and for the whole of humanity…
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
