The Feast of the Most Holy Trinity | Sunday 4 June 2022

Today is Sunday the 4th of June, the feast of The Most Holy Trinity.

Salt of the Sound sings ‘Doxology’.

Praise God, from whom all blessings flow
Praise Him, all creatures here below
Praise Him above, ye heavenly host
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost
Amen

Today’s reading is from the Second Letter to the Corinthians.

2 Cor 13:11-13

Finally, brothers and sisters, farewell. Put things in order, listen to my appeal, agree with one another, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you. Greet one another with a holy kiss. All the saints greet you.

The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with all of you.

“Agree with one another, live in peace”. These seem straightforward enough instructions for Christians… but we all know in practice the challenge these words can be. How do these words land with you today? "Agree with one another, live in peace."

Paul ends the letter with “The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit”. The church reads this passage on today’s feast of the Holy Trinity. We might therefore take a moment to reflect on the communion of the Trinity… how do you imagine the love of the Trinity and the “togetherness” shared?

Now listen as the passage is read once more. Is there a line here, or even a word, that leaps off the page at you? What do you think God might be saying to you today?

What is lingering with you as this time of prayer comes to a close? Share your thoughts and heart with the Lord.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
