Saturday 6 May 2023

Welcome to the Saturday Examen.

Take a moment to settle into prayer… Notice where you are now – what might this place mean to God? Can you find God’s presence there in some way?

Let it become a sacred space for you now, as you begin to commune with the living Lord…

On Saturdays, we spend a little bit of time reflecting on the journey we have made over the course of the week.

This week, we have heard words of comfort from Jesus and inspiring stories of the Early Christians. Whether you’ve listened for the whole week or not, now is an opportunity to hear a line of scripture from each day…perhaps it will mean something new to you today. What stands out as you listen?

I am the good shepherd. I know my own and my own know me, just as the Father knows me and I know the Father.

The hand of the Lord was with them, and a great number became believers and turned to the Lord.

‘Lord, show us the Father, and we will be satisfied.’

Yet all these, though they were commended for their faith, did not receive what was promised, since God had provided something better so that they would not, without us, be made perfect.

‘Do not let your hearts be troubled. Believe in God, believe also in me.

Stay with whatever is standing out to you now…

Can you remember a moment of light from this week? A moment where you discovered God, perhaps unexpectedly?

Can you remember a moment where you felt weighed down or heavy, or perhaps you felt a lack of connection to God or others around you?

Hold it all with God now, talking with God about anything that is particularly speaking to you from your week… Ask for anything you might need for the week ahead too.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
