The Feast of St Francis Xavier SJ | Saturday 3 December 2022

Welcome to the Saturday Examen.

As you begin your time of prayer today, light a candle or turn on the torch on your phone, to shine on the area immediately around you…

Notice what difference does this make to the room and to the atmosphere, also to how you feel?

For our examen today, we are going to pray with some of the themes from the readings of the past week.

Invite Jesus to sit with you as you begin your prayer, asking him to guide and shine his light into your heart during your time of reflection.

Faith

Jesus was amazed by the faith of the Roman Centurion.

Where has your faith most shown in your life this week?

When did you feel least full of faith?

Offer these times to the Lord.

Peace

Isaiah wrote, “The wolf shall lie down with the lamb.”

Where have you sought and experienced peace this week?

Which moment this week did you most feel without peace?

Offer these moments to the Lord.

Hope

Isaiah wrote of the coming Messiah:

On that day the deaf shall hear
the words of a scroll,
and out of their gloom and darkness
the eyes of the blind shall see.
The meek shall obtain fresh joy in the Lord

In which situations have felt a sense of hope this week?

When were the times when you felt without hope?

Offer these moments to the Lord.

Now simply sit in the light with the Lord as one friend with another,

And let his light bring comfort and warmth to you.
