Welcome to the Saturday Examen
One Hope Project sings, ‘Abba Father’.
Abba Father breathe on me
Wash me in Your glory
When faith is frail You carry me
In Your presence I am free
Sunday the 27th is the first day of Advent. Saturday the 26th then, is the last day of the liturgical year. Happy New Year! Let’s have a little look back at the last 12 months.
What kind of a year has it been for you? How are you at the end of it? How is God looking at the year you’ve had? Take a few moments with God to look back; pause if you need more time . . .
Focus on one of the highlights of your year, something that you feel really grateful for. Savour that memory. Breathe it in. Talk to God about it.
Let one thing from the year come to mind that needs healing. What memory are you with now? How is God with you with this wound? Breathe God’s love into the memory of that episode.
As you look towards the season of Advent, a season of joy, what do you need from God? Ask for this.
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
