Welcome to the Saturday Examen.
Take a few moments to prepare.
You might want to light a candle as a sign of taking some time out with the Lord.
Now just slow down. Let go of any tension just for these moments.
You could sigh or yawn, let your shoulders drop. Let your arms fall loosely by your sides, your fingers relax, eyes rest gently on some point in front of you.
Ask God to shed light on this time of prayer. Ask to be your true, your genuine self.
This week we’ve been reflecting on the contrast between the heaviness of the Pharisees’ rules and the freedom we can ask for from God.
“My yoke is easy and my burden is light” says Jesus. Allow yourself for a moment to shed something that weighs you down, and choose the lightness of God’s presence.
Have you sensed God’s presence in the last few days? Call to mind those times and give thanks.
Have there been times when you’ve felt burdened? Share these with the Lord.
What do you need for the coming days? Simply ask for what you need.
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
