Saturday 1 October 2022

Welcome to the Saturday Examen.

Prepare yourself for prayer today by focussing on your breath…take a few deep breaths in…and then a few releasing breaths out. Notice how the change in breath brings stillness and an awareness of God’s presence.

Cast your mind back over the week… we have been reminded, over and over, of the depth of the relationship that God calls us to. Relationships are not easy. We can be drawn to anger, feel that too much is being asked of us, feel protected or rejected. Perhaps it is right that these same emotions colour our relationship with the Lord. Perhaps we need to give to God what so many human relationships also need…time.

Thinking about this week’s readings…

Is there a particular moment God is drawing you to remember? Notice what rises to the surface naturally… allow the moment to reveal itself …

Where do you feel an openness of heart or a sense of revelation as you look back at your prayer journey? Again, notice what arises naturally…

Do you notice any tensions, distress or frustration?

Looking forward, what would you like to ask God for, to find movement in your prayer and spirituality?

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
