The Feast of Saint Gregory the Great | Saturday 3 September 2022

Welcome to the Saturday Examen.

As you settle into your time of prayer today, become aware of the rhythm of your breathing.

Notice any other sounds around you.

As you attune your ears to listen, attune your heart to reflect on your week and to receive from God, who is near to you.

We reflect today with a short phrase taken from each scripture from this week’s prayer followed by a pause in-between.

As you listen, notice which one most resounds with you.

“For Herod himself had sent men who arrested John, bound him and put him in prison.”

“For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God.”

“If you think you are wise in this age, you should become fools so that you may become wise.”

“When they had brought their boats to shore, they left everything and followed him.”

“You cannot make wedding guests fast while the bridegroom is with them, can you? The days will come when the bridegroom will be taken away from them, and they will fast in those days.”

Continue to listen now, knowing that the Lord is near.

Hold out to him, the scripture that most spoke to you and listen out for the whisper of his voice in the quiet.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
