Saturday Examen

As you enter into the Examen prayer today, take some deep breaths in, breathing out slowly and deeply each time.
The out-breath is just as important as the in-breath.

Become aware of the presence of God all around you.
God who gives life and breath.

Ask God to cast His light on your examen prayer.

Look back over your week.
  Where did it take you?
Are there times to be thankful for?
Were there times of light and life?
  Were there any surprises?
Give God thanks for these times.

Were there times when you struggled?
When you felt vulnerable? Lay these before the Lord.

There might have been regrets.
    Let God know about them.
The God who doesn’t point the finger, doesn’t treat us as our sins deserve, but instead draws us gently closer to Himself.

Commit the coming day to God’s grace, and if grace is something hard for you to accept, you can ask for God’s help to embrace it.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
