The 28th Sunday of Ordinary Time 2021

Today is Sunday the 10 October, beginning the 28th week of Ordinary time.


Silent, surrendered, calm and still.
  Open to the word of God.
  In all that is going on around me, all the movement, all the noise, Can I find a moment of calmness and stillness now, Can I feel God’s presence here,
  And surrender myself to it, Opening myself to listen to God’s word?

Today’s reading is from the letter to the Hebrews.

Hebrews 4:12-13
Indeed, the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing until it divides soul from spirit, joints from marrow; it is able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. And before him no creature is hidden, but all are naked and laid bare to the eyes of the one to whom we must render an account.

Each day on Pray As You Go, we enter into encounter with the Word of God. Simply by being here, we acknowledge scripture as something alive and active. Consider what it is that you receive from the scriptures and the opportunity to pray with them each day…

In everything that we read, we bring something to the text, it becomes relational. When it comes to scripture, this relationship offers much more. There is our helper in the Holy Spirit who leads us through the scripture. Because the Bible is living and active, when we read the Word, we engage in a conversation that is brought to life through study, discernment and lived experience. Today’s reading reminds us that Jesus is also the Word of God. We may reflect on the records of encounters that we find in scripture but we can encounter Jesus every day, in our prayer, our meditation and our silence. During this week, see each practice as the opportunity to deepen your conversation and relationship with the
  God who loves us.
