St Robert Bellarmine SJ | Friday 17 September 2021

Today is Friday the 17 September, the feast of  St Robert Bellarmine SJ, in the 24th week of Ordinary Time.

One Hope Project sings, ‘Where the Lord Dwells’.

Today’s reading is from the Gospel of Luke.

Luke 8:1-3

Soon afterwards he went on through cities and villages, proclaiming and bringing the good news of the kingdom of God. The twelve were with him, as well as some women who had been cured of evil spirits and infirmities: Mary, called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out, and Joanna, the wife of Herod’s steward Chuza, and Susanna, and many others, who provided for them out of their resources.

Jesus was “proclaiming and bringing the good news of the kingdom of God”.

What did this mean to you as you listened?

What do you notice about Jesus’ companions? What does the story tell you about Jesus’ friends?

What does it mean to say that the women “provided for them out of their own resources”? Is there some way in which you could do that yourself?

Now listen as the passage is read once more.

Finally, just look at what has been going on for you during this time, and see if you can gather it all into a prayer to God in your own words.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
