Saturday Examen

Take a moment to arrive in prayer now. You may like to begin with a simple breath prayer to help you centre. As you breathe you may like to repeat the words, “Lord, here I am… Lord, here I am.”

As we begin our examen, we invite the Lord to be near using some words from the Psalms:

‘Search me O Lord and know my heart; test me and know my thoughts.’

How was your journey with the Lord in this past week? Replay some of your memories.

Can you recall when did you feel most distant from God? Offer this moment to him and whatever feelings accompany this recollection.

When did you feel most near to God? Offer this memory to him, giving thanks for this moment.

Maybe there is a moment that God wants to show you?  Perhaps a time when he was with you, although you were unaware of his gaze? Ask him to show you this now.

Can you feel his loving gaze upon you now?

Lord, this week, you have searched me, and you know me, and I praise you.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
