The 17th Sunday of Ordinary Time 2021

Today is Sunday the 25 July, beginning the 17th week of Ordinary Time.

Today’s reading is from Paul’s letter to the Ephesians.

Ephesians 4:1-6

I therefore, the prisoner in the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, making every effort to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to the one hope of your calling, one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is above all and through all and in all.

When was the last time you took some time to reflect on what exactly God has called you to..? called you to be..?

Are these words that Paul uses here ones that come up for you when you think of your calling..? Humility, gentleness, patience, love..?  If they are, why is that? And if they aren’t, what words resonate with you?

Listen to this short passage again, and although it is short, notice what word or phrase strikes you and stay with that.

Talk now with God and Father of all, who is above all and through all and in all – open your heart and hear what God is calling you to…
