Audrey Assad sings ‘Wounded Healer’. As you listen, reflect on Jesus’ healing nature…perhaps there is a particular healing story from scripture you are drawn to… let your mind rest there as we begin this time of prayer today.
This weekend’s reading is from the Gospel of Mark.
Mark 1:29-34
As soon as they left the synagogue, they entered the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John. Now Simon’s mother-in-law was in bed with a fever, and they told him about her at once. He came and took her by the hand and lifted her up. Then the fever left her, and she began to serve them.
That evening, at sunset, they brought to him all who were sick or possessed with demons. And the whole city was gathered around the door. And he cured many who were sick with various diseases, and cast out many demons; and he would not permit the demons to speak, because they knew him.
Jesus spent time both in worship and relaxing in the homes of his disciples. Today we hear of him healing Simon’s mother-in-law. In what areas of your life do you need the healing touch of Jesus?
Tell him now.
In your imagination invite Jesus into your home.
Imagine him taking your hand, and raising you up to be alongside him.
What are you experiencing as he does this?
What do you do next?
As you listen again think about others you know well who need the healing touch of Jesus. Bring them in your mind to Jesus and ask for his healing for them too.
In the closing moments bring the situation of the pandemic to Jesus, and ask for his healing on our world.
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
