St Margaret Mary Alacoque

Today is Friday the 16 October, the feast of St Mary Margaret Alacoque, in the 28th week of Ordinary Time.

One Hope Project sings, ‘Good work in me’. Become aware of the presence of the Holy Spirit, with you now… the Spirit that is doing a good work in you…

Today’s reading if from the Letter to the Ephesians.

Ephesians 1:11-14

In Christ we have also obtained an inheritance, having been destined according to the purpose of him who accomplishes all things according to his counsel and will, so that we, who were the first to set our hope on Christ, might live for the praise of his glory. In him you also, when you had heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and had believed in him, were marked with the seal of the promised Holy Spirit; this is the pledge of our inheritance towards redemption as God’s own people, to the praise of his glory.

Why do you listen to Pray As You Go?  What are you looking for?  . . .Would you like proof that you are marked with the seal of the Holy Spirit?  You are here: listening, seeking, desiring.  This is evidence that the Holy Spirit is in you and at work in you . . . This Spirit invites you to be a person of hope.  How is Christ inviting you to hope?

If at times you find yourself with diminished hope, you’re not alone.  It doesn’t mean you’ve lost the Spirit.  It means you’re alive and life involves struggle.  Speak to God about the challenges of holding on to hope...

Listening again, see if you can catch something of the bigger picture that God can see and invites you to glimpse.

Ponder the presence of God’s Holy Spirit within you: the pledge of your inheritance!

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
