Wednesday 15 July 2020

Today is Wednesday the 15 July in the 15h week of Ordinary Time.

One Hope Project sing ‘Abba Father’. As you begin your prayer today, whether morning afternoon or evening, wherever you are, become aware of the presence of God and what that’s like for you…

Today’s reading is from the Gospel of Matthew.

Matthew 11:25-27

At that time Jesus said, ‘I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and the intelligent and have revealed them to infants; yes, Father, for such was your gracious will. All things have been handed over to me by my Father; and no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.

Today we hear of the intimate relationship that the earthly Jesus had with his heavenly Father. Being close to Jesus helps us to see God more clearly. As you come into God’s presence today, what do you most want to give thanks for?

Jesus suggests that the ways of God are more readily revealed to small children, than to the wise and intelligent. What do you think he means by this? What might you need to let go of to become more childlike in your relationship with God?

As you listen to the passage again think of some of the qualities and characteristics of small children that enable them to be close to God.

In these last moments of prayer express your love for God, speaking as one friend speaks to another.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
