Today is Tuesday the 4th of February, in the Fourth week of Ordinary Time.

The University of Johannesburg choir sing a setting of Psalm 42.

Today’s reading is from the Gospel of Mark.

For a moment let what the Gospel describes really sink in.: Can you bear to think what the woman with the hemorrhage has endured at the hands of those many physicians, or what it is like for her to be so poor; and how rejected she must feel?

And now imagine her there in the crowd and sense what she must be feeling. Let what touches her heart, touch your heart. Who is Jesus for her? Who is he for you?

Finally, see her come face to face with Jesus. ‘Who touched me?’ he says as he looks around him. Surely he desires to meet the one who has shown such faith in him. Does he not equally want to meet you?

As you listen again to the story, let yourself be caught up once again in this wonderful encounter.

‘And she told him the whole truth’. Take time now to tell Jesus something of the truth of your life, not being afraid to ask for his healing.
